Overview
Bonnie O’Brien, PHR, CTS, CPC, CSP is a human resource and staffing professional.
In 1989 she joined Norrell Staffing Services (a billion dollar publicly held international staffing firm) as branch manager of the Paramus, NJ location (formerly Cosmopolitan Personnel – a regional employment agency – newly acquired by Norrell). Due to the economic downturn and a series of events which had affected the acquisition, Norrell decided to franchise the office.
In 1990 Bonnie purchased the franchised location and for the next ten years successfully took the office from an underperforming site with less than $500,000 in revenue to an expanded market with two branch sites and four major corporate on-site locations. By 1996 she had over 15 direct staff reports, 200 contractors on assignment, and had surpassed $5M in annual sales, thereby winning numerous corporate awards for profit, high gross margins, quality, and was listed in the “Top 10” (#4 in 1995 and #2 in 1996) amongst over 150 Norrell offices.
In the mid 1990’s she acquired Personnel Service, a firm dedicated to placement of administrative professionals and in 2000, she successfully sold her franchise offices for a profit of more than 1000% of the original investment. In the first ten years of her career in staffing and placement Bonnie successfully placed several thousand employees on diverse interim and direct hire assignments.
Upon leaving the corporate world in 2000, she founded Placement Professionals, a consortium of recruiting experts who place high level candidates in corporate positions throughout the United States and abroad.
In addition to staffing and contingency placement, Bonnie expanded her business offerings to include human resource consulting and training with emphasis on recruiting, selection and placement and the legal issues associated with hiring employees. Since 1995 she has provided training to the North Jersey Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM) organization for the semi-annual certification program. She has taught numerous times for the New Jersey Staffing Alliance during their semi-annual training programs and wrote the manual on Staffing used by NJSA trainers.
Ms. O’Brien was 2000-2002 President of the New Jersey Staffing Alliance, a statewide trade association of over 250 member companies involved in staffing and placement. NJSA became a strong voice in education, ethics and legislative affairs in NJ as Ms. O’Brien, then a registered lobbyist with the State carried the role of Legislative Chair, and has testified before the State government several times.

Based on her education, training and experience, Ms. O’Brien has been called upon to lecture groups regarding the staffing and placement business and has appeared as an expert witness in legal proceedings.
She is a Past Member of the Board of Directors of Girl Scout Council of Bergen County; Board of Directors for the North Jersey March of Dimes; Quality New Jersey; Paramus Chamber of Commerce; Paramus Catholic H.S. Touchdown Club; Paramus Catholic H.S. Marketing Activities Board; and Founding Member/Vice President of BISNET; and has participated in Advisory Councils for:

Nominated by the Bergen County, NJ Workforce Center, Ms. O’Brien received the 1995 Award for Outstanding Contributions to Women and Families - Displaced Homemakers Network of New Jersey, Inc.
Business New Jersey (NJBIZ) has included Ms. O’Brien in the New Jersey Business Leaders Who’s Who for the past several years.
Her firm Placement Professionals and her corporation (Bonavntura, Inc.) have received WBE/SBE certification from the State of New Jersey and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
