Overview
John J. Strauchs, Principal of Strauchs LLC, has 40 years of experience in security and intelligence. Earlier in his long career, he founded Systech Group in 1985, a security and fire protection engineering firm. Prior to that he was an equity principal in charge of security engineering for Gage-Babcock & Associates. Formerly, he was an operations officer with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Mr. Strauchs has testified before Congress on security matters. Landmark projects conducted by John Strauchs include: Museum of Modern Art, New York City; 10 million square-foot World Trade Center in New York City (post-1993-incident); Security value engineering support to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the New World Trade Center (current project); Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA), Pasadena, CA (current project; on administrative hold until November 2007); 3.1 million square-foot Ronald Reagan Building (the second largest Federal office building in America—after the Pentagon), Washington, D.C. ; 2.5 million square-foot Mobil Headquarters, Fairfax, Virginia, and Ben Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv, Israel.
Strauchs LLC specializes in the design of security systems and the development of drawings, specifications and cost estimates. Services begin with project programming and concept development, through schematic design, design development, and contract documents, ending with bid and award support and construction administration services. Typical systems are access control, intrusion detection, security communications, and video surveillance and the design of proprietary security control centers.
Other specialized areas of expertise include risk assessments, security system trouble-shooting, security surveys and audits, support in nominating qualified manufacturers, security contractor negotiations, cost estimating, security value engineering and the development of master plans.
Strauchs LLC has no affiliation with manufacturers, installers, integrators, investigative services, guard services, insurance companies, and similar conflicting interests. John Strauchs has completed more than 750 consulting and engineering projects since entering the private security sector in 1975.
He has written or contributed to more than 90 professional journal articles and 10 books.
