Brief Biography of Patricia A. Moss

Patricia Moss is the retired president of AFSCME Ohio Council 8, AFL-CIO. Ohio Council 8 represents over 42,000 public sector, not-for-profit organization and other employees who work in cities, counties, universities, hospitals, schools, child care and other public service sectors.

She was with AFSCME in various capacities – member, staffer, and full-time elected officer – for 38 years.She began her service as a full-time officer when she was elected first vice president of the Council 8 in 1991. She moved to the union’s highest position in January of 2001.

Prior to her retirement in September, 2006, she also served as an International Vice President of AFSCME, AFL-CIO, a vice president of the Ohio AFL-CIO, and the chair of the Ohio AFSCME Care Plan, a jointly administered benefits trust fund with 50,000 covered lives.

Currently, she is the owner/operator of SynergyWorks, a small business consulting firm. She is active in environmental issues and progressive politics and is a member of the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party's executive committee.
