Overview (born July 10, 1971, Mexico City, Mexico) is one of the most multifaceted and dynamic of actors in Hollywood today.
Julia-Levy was raised by his Grandfather, clothing tycoon, Abraham Levy (Levi-Strauss) who died when Julia-Levy was 16. Even though Julia-Levy was born into one of the most powerful and established families in Mexico, he always new he wanted to be an actor. Notably, it wasn't until the age of 16 that he had the opportunity to meet his father, the late Raul Julia (Actor) on the set of an American film production called Romero.
Known as the Howard Hughes of Mexico, Julia-Levy remains much more than a film and television actor. He is an entrepreneur, humanitarian and philanthropist, and remains very active in the political and socio-economic concerns of his country.
In December 2000 Julia-Levy participated in the Presidential Inauguration of the newly elected President Vincente Fox with the main purpose of addressing how to shelter and educate the indigenous people from the state of Oaxaca, and Chihuahua Mexico. Attending the event were high profile figures from both the political world and entertainment industry.
In 2001 he was invited by the President Vincente Fox, to participate in the inauguration of Yucatan's newly elected Governor Patricio Patron Laviada.
In 2006, newly elected President Felipe de Jesus Calderon Hinojosa invited Raul Julia-Levy and several other notable Hollywood actors and producers to attend his Presidential inauguration.
Julia-Levy is also deeply committed to the issues of animal welfare. Julia-Levy has been quoted as saying, "If I was alone on a deserted Island with my dog, and there was one morsel of food left, I would without question, give it to my dog." Julia-Levy was motivated by the sudden death of his beloved Scottish Terrier, O'Toole in 2005, to form a new company. In 2006 Julia-Levy in partnership with Laura Holk founded fluantmypet.com - an online community focused on pet health, news and entertainment as well as a focus on providing shelter for pets in need.
Other business endeavors include working to revive and expand the Mexican airlines, Aerolineas Internacionales and, with his family, restoring the San Felipe Villas resort located by the Sea of Cortez. Beginning in January 2007 Julia-Levy, along with his brother Jose Levy (Attorney and Politician) established The National Foundation for Education of the Indigenous.The foundation provides scholarships to various indigenous groups throughout Mexico. He will continue to volunteer his time and resources to various humanitarian efforts in the Los Angeles area.
Julia-Levy currently resides in LA with his two Scottish Terriers, Nell and O'Toole Jr.
