Part 6 of the fall TV preview: Other fun stuff

The fall TV season is upon us, and we’re wrapping up a special two-week Congoo series on the new fall shows. We’ve taken a look at what’s on the major networks; now what’s on everywhere else?   Last week I blathered on about my love for the “CSI” shows, and I mentioned that at any given time in primetime, you can find at least one of them showing on some network somewhere. Well, the same can be said of the three “Law & Order” series. And while NBC is the established home of those series, my own favorite, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” is actually moving to USA for its new episodes on October 4.   Now while I’ll do my best in this post to temper my deep love for Det. Goren (played by the quite-amazing Vincent D'Onofrio – I can’t believe he’s not an Emmy KING for that role), I cannot help but say great things about this show. The way that this sharp detective continually outguesses, entraps and outwits the criminal, delving into all these deep psychological twists and turns, is always fascinating. (OK, that’s me blathering on about Goren, yes. Ask my brother and his wife and they’ll tell you, when I’m roaming the channels and finding a repeat on some network, and that music is starting … if I don’t see that image of Goren’s lumbering frame leaning over in the opening sequence, I’ll whine “B-Team! B-Team!” and I’ll refuse to watch. No offense to Chris Noth, of course!) Well, USA makes a comfy home for Goren and his partner Eames next Thursday, October 4, at 10 p.m. EST. This enthralled chickie will be there.   HBO, meanwhile, in its post-“Sopranos” world, dishes out “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” the epic-like “Rome” (is anybody catching that? I’m curious as to what it’s like), and the western “Deadwood,” now in its third season. And Bravo continues to push, BIG-time, it’s “Top Chef” series (I know, because the commercials are overwhelming when I’m watching Goren – I mean, my “Law & Order: CI”!).   Next week, it's back to the rest of the entertainment world! Including some books news!
