Part 1 of a special fall TV preview: Fox

The fall TV season is beginning, and that means a whole new crop of the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to small-screen viewing! We’re going to do a special series here on Congoo this week and next week, focusing on the new fall shows and the picks of the litter.   First up, today … Fox!   I just had to begin with Fox, because I’m quite partial to their hit “Prison Boys” – er, I mean, “Prison BREAK.” Ummm … anyhow … This thrill-a-minute prison-escape drama, which in truth has more twists and turns per episode than any corn maze I’ve ever seen, launches its new season **tonight at 8.** Now, if you’ve been keeping up (which, in itself, is a task), you know that Michael Scofield (the simply yummy Wentworth Miller), mastermind behind the “prison break” from Fox River Penitentiary near Chicago that the series has focused on thus-far, is now locked behind a different set of bars, an obscure, foreign, truly nasty prison called Sona. He’s joined by former Fox River guard Bellick and former fellow Fox River inmate and creepy pedophile T-Bag. Anything goes, it seems, in this gruesome place. Of course, we fear for hottie Michael’s life. Of course, we anticipate that his big bro Linc (Dominic Purcell, just as hot – if not hotter – sorry!) is going to have to break him out this time, a reversal of the show’s original premise. Fun! I’ll be there!   Another Fox shining star, even if not widely known, is “Bones.” Based on the work of novelist and forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, “Bones” revolves around Temperance Brennan, well-nailed by Emily Deschanel, who solves crimes by analyzing (what else?) bones. She’s joined by the forever-quipping FBI agent Seeley Booth, played by the forever-quipping and so-easy-in-the-role David Boreanaz of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel.” Together, they’re dynamite. Let’s just hope that as the sparks fly between them, their writers don’t send them off to their inevitable conclusion too soon. (C’mon, don’t pull a “Moonlighting” on us! We want the show to last longer!) “Bones” starts up a new skeletal sked on Tuesday (a new night), September 25 at 8 p.m. EST.   Elsewhere, Fox will continue to serve up the popular “House” and “’Til Death,” and the fourth network also rolls out a very fun-sounding new game show with Wayne Brady: “Don’t Forget the Lyrics,” where you get to prove just how badly you were hearing the words to all those fun songs they used to play on the radio!
