| The fall TV season is beginning, and that means a whole new crop of the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to small-screen viewing! Continuing a special series here on Congoo this week and next week, focusing on the new fall shows, today we highlight NBC.
OK, can I just tell you how absolutely THERE I am, when it comes to a new take on the “Bionic Woman”? Can I just mention how geeked I am, and how ALL-ABOUT the original “Bionic Woman” I was as a kid? As far as I am concerned, the Great Chick Triumverate of Classic ‘70s TV was “Bionic Woman,” “Wonder Woman” and “Charlie’s Angels.”
That said, NBC rolls out its new interpretation of the gizmoed-out gal, no doubt with some fab special effects in the updating, on Wednesday, September 26 at 9 p.m. EST. Michelle Ryan steps into Jaime Sommers’ shoes. I saw Richard Anderson, Oscar Goldman of the original series, at an event in Detroit in May, and he told me that he and Lindsay Wagner were asked to do roles in the new series but declined. Well, I’ll watch the show anyway, goll-darn it …
NBC is also the home of “Heroes,” a simply fabulous break-out hit from last year. Think “X-Men” with a touch of the “The Twilight Zone” and “The X-Files.” Bunch of regular people who discover they have strange powers. Lots of twists, lots of intrigue. Lots of connections between them that they slowly unravel. It’s a bit of a soap, too, which is fun for this setting. The standout is Hiro Nakamura, played by the well-ranged Masi Oka, who nabbed himself Emmy and Golden Globe nominations last year for his performance. The “Heroes,” who’ve even done the run of comic conventions this past year, fly at 9 p.m. EST on Monday, September 24.
NBC also delivers up more “Deal or No Deal,” “Biggest Loser” and “The Office.”
